Everyone who gives to Guest House has a story. Join our #WhyIGive campaign and tell yours today!

“Responsibility.” “Freedom.” “Satisfaction.” When asked to describe what  Guest House of Milwaukee means to them in one word, these are a few of the answers our guests have given us. Each day, the people served by Guest House are given the tools they need to gain the responsibility, freedom and satisfaction of having their own home and their independence.

In order for us to continue to develop innovative, compassionate and meaningful solutions  to homelessness in our community, we need your help. Your financial gift is an investment in our community that will help people overcome homelessness. Donate now and tell us why YOU give this holiday season!

After making your donation to the Guest House, write down why you gave on our #WhyIGive poster available here and take a photo of yourself holding your “Why I Give” sign. Share your photo on social media using #WhyIGive and tagging Guest House!

Tom Church, former shelter Guest Why does Tom Church, a former guest, give to Guest House? “Because the Guest House helped me.” Tom suffered a heart attack during his shelter stay, and credits Guest House with saving his life in more ways than one. As a result of his heart attack, Tom needed a heart transplant – something we would not have been able to get without a stable place to come home to. His time at Guest House provided him with the support and resources he needed to recover and live independently – and now, he generously supports us in any way he can. “There is nowhere like Guest House anywhere in the world,” he said. “I am thankful for all that Guest House gave me and I understand the struggles that those in shelter are facing. I want to support them like others supported me. It makes a difference to someone.”
Patrick Dunphy, Chair, Guest House Board of Directors Why does Patrick Dunphy support Guest House of Milwaukee? “Giving shelter and support to those in need strengthens us all and makes us better.” As chair of our Board of Directors, Patrick Dunphy, of @Cannon and Dunphy S.C., is a champion of our mission. He gives his time, knowledge and financial support to Guest House because he knows that supporting those we serve is an investment in our community. “Guest House of Milwaukee is the best provider of shelter and support of a highly ignored and neglected population,” he said. “There is no better way to support our community than to support the people that Guest House serves.”
Chris and Maria Franklin, community supporters Why do Chris and Maria Franklin support Guest House of Milwaukee? “Sometimes, people just need a chance.” Chris and Maria found Guest House because they were looking for a way to support our community. After they visited us and took a tour, they were hooked! Since then, they’ve supported us with monetary gifts, in kind donations, sandwiches, and by spreading the word about our mission. “I’ve been one paycheck away from losing everything and now that I’m in a much more stable place and in a position to give back, I do so without hesitation,” Chris said.
