Willie's Story

Willie came to Guest House to start over.

As Willie reached middle age, his priorities and outlook changed. The life he was living no longer left him fulfilled, and he wanted to find stability.

“My first impression of Guest House was sanctuary.”

Through his efforts to get to know the staff and establish a strong partnership with his case manager, Willie discovered something: Guest House could help him reach the goals he set for himself, and all he’d have to do is ask.

Whether it was requesting dress clothes, or requesting assistance to help him continue pursuing an education, Willie always asked.

He thought at times he probably gave his case manager a headache with all of his questions, but Guest House was always there to help him with what he needed.

“If you’re serious about getting your life in order, you come to Guest House,” Willie said. “This place right here, this is worth giving a try.”

While staying here and utilizing all of the resources available to him, Willie was accepted into UW-Milwaukee’s nursing program, and will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree. He was also able to find and move into his own apartment downtown, utilizing leads that his case manager provided for him.

“I praise God that I found this place, to get me back on track.”
