Stephen Bauer

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Stephen Bauer became Guest House of Milwaukee's Chief Executive Officer on March 1, 2024. He had served as Interim CEO at Guest House since August 2023. Prior to this role, Stephen founded and served as lead consultant for Bauer Consulting Group, a national consulting firm focusing on interim executive leadership, operations leadership, and organizational development. 

 

Bauer has more than 25 years of nonprofit leadership experience holding roles focused on executive leadership, leadership development, partnership management, operations, coalition-building and advocacy. Previously, Bauer served as Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Initiatives for Public Allies. Prior to that, Bauer served as Director of National Partnerships/External Relations as well as the Director for the Initiative for Nonprofit Sector Careers at The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance where, most notably, he launched a national coalition in partnership focused on increasing pathways and support for next generation nonprofit leaders. Stephen has served as an American Express Leadership 2.0 Fellow (2016), American Express Independent Sector NGen Fellow (2013-14), a National Human Service Assembly Civic Sector Leadership Fellow (2010-11) and holds a certification in Nonprofit Management and a master's degree in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University. Bauer lives in Milwaukee with his family and two dogs.

Keonna Munoz

Vice President of Community Housing

Keonna has experience working with many populations, including individuals with severe mental health and substance abuse issues, those who are homeless, those incarcerated, LGBTQ+, youth, and family groups. She is trained in trauma informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and prenatal care coordination. Keonna develops programs, writes curriculum, facilitates and provides training and case management services. She joined Guest House in January 2021 as the Program Manager at Pathways, was promoted to Program Manager of Interim Housing, and is now Director of Interim Housing. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Science degree in Community Psychology, both through Alverno College.

Christy Miller

Vice President of Development

Christy Miller has been named Vice President of Development, and will begin her tenure with Guest House on August 12. Christy has over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Her career started in program development management and organizational operations. Most recently, Christy served as Director of Development with PEARLS for Teen Girls in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for over a decade.

 

She is a self-directed and driven nonprofit development and management professional with a comprehensive background in relationship management, fund development strategy, marketing, event planning, operations, and leading cross-functional teams to ensure success and achieve goals. Christy is known for strategic thinking and strong financial acumen, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

 

Christy has a BA in business and marketing from Carthage College and has a mini-MBA in Nonprofit Management from the University of St. Thomas, along with nonprofit coursework through Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. She also has a certificate of Management from the MRA Institute of Management.

 

Christy is a graduate of the Future Milwaukee Leadership program, MOSAIC Milwaukee Partnership Program, and is an active member of TEMPO Milwaukee, a leadership organization for women that has developed a reputation for accelerating, advancing, and elevating women leaders in the community.

 

An avid gardener and traveler, Christy also spends her time advocating for mental health causes that address the stigma associated with mental illness. Christy and her husband Kevin live in Menomonee Falls with their two grown children, Norah and Maxwell, and dogs Lulu and Hilo.

Kenyatta Matthews

Vice President of Clinic Operations

Kenyatta will join the Guest House team as the Vice President of Clinic Operations on August 26. Kenyatta has been a nonprofit servant leader for over two decades, primarily working in the behavioral health sector. Her career started in case management with children and families involved with Milwaukee County Children’s Court. Most recently she worked for Rogers Behavioral Health as the Operations Manager for two residential behavioral health units for adolescents and adults diagnosed with mood disorders.

 

Kenyatta is a proud graduate of Marquette University. Initially enrolled in the School of Nursing, she pivoted her studies to Psychology after observing one too many medical procedures. This pivot was the beginning of a career dedicated to servant leadership within the behavioral health world. Kenyatta also holds an MS in Human Services Administration with an emphasis on Organizational Management and Leadership, in addition to an MBA from Concordia University with an emphasis on Health Care Administration.

 

Kenyatta has always been passionate about working with, and advocating for those who need assistance being seen and heard. After two years providing direct services, Kenyatta switched gears to leadership roles because this is where she could be most impactful. She is a compassionate, engaging leader who believes in working beside her team to be a catalyst for change and growth. Kenyatta is an alum of the African American Leadership Program, a respected program known for cultivating strong leaders amongst African American professionals in Milwaukee.

 

Outside of work, Kenyatta is a mother of one and a grandmother to two beautiful girls, ages 4 and 9. In her spare time she enjoys reading, crafting, and taking Chicago style stepping classes.

Paige Steder

Associate Vice President of Shelter Programs

Paige received both her Bachelor’s of Science in Social Work and her Master’s of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Paige began her career at The Guest House of Milwaukee as a Case Manager in the Rapid Rehousing program in 2021, assisting individuals with securing and maintaining housing. She also assisted with connections to mainstream resources, employment assistance, and mental health resources. She has also served as the Interim Housing Program Manager, where she managed 3 community housing programs offered at the Guest House. Paige is certified in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, Screening, Brief Intervention & Referral to Treatment (SBIRT), and SSI/SSDI, Outreach, Access and Recovery (SOAR). As the Associate Vice President of Shelter Programs, Paige is responsible for the Main Shelter, Veterans Shelter, Marsha’s House, and Pathways to Permanent Housing Shelter. She is passionate about advocating, uplifting, and inspiring others to rebuild their lives and believes that everyone has a right to safe and secure housing.

Sophia Franklin

Associate Vice President of Strategic Initiatives

Sophia is an accomplished social work professional with over a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership and advocacy for vulnerable populations. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Sophia has excelled in roles ranging from program director to health coordinator, consistently driving strategic planning and impactful community programs. Her work is deeply rooted in addressing social determinants of health, ensuring equitable care, and fostering independence and quality of life for those she serves.
